Patient Information

This guide has been developed to give you a better understanding of the condition called anemia and to explain how Anadrol®-50 (oxymetholone) 50 mg tablets can treat this disorder. Anemia can make you feel tired, short of breath, or unable to engage in strenuous activities. It is important to treat your anemia and to be closely followed by your doctor. Many options are available to treat this condition. This website can help you learn about your anemia condition and how treatment with Anadrol-50 can help.

For best results in the treatment of anemia, all medical advice given to you by your doctor should be followed carefully, including changes in diet and the use of medications.

Indications and usage: Anadrol-50 is indicated in the treatment of anemias caused by deficient red cell production. Acquired aplastic anemia, congenital aplastic anemia, myelofibrosis and the hypoplastic anemias due to the administration of myelotoxic drugs often respond. Anadrol-50 should not replace other supportive measures such as transfusion, correction of iron, folic acid, vitamin B12, or pyridoxine deficiency, antibacterial therapy and the appropriate use of corticosteroids.

Warnings: Peliosis hepatis, a condition in which liver and sometimes splenic tissue is replaced with blood-filled cysts, has been reported in patients receiving androgenic anabolic steroid therapy. Liver cell tumors are also reported. Most often these tumors are benign and androgen-dependent, but fatal malignant tumors have been reported. Blood lipid changes that are known to be associated with increased risk of atherosclerosis are seen in patients treated with androgens and anabolic steroids.
